Adorn is a well regarded, long time Portland, Oregon body art institution. Our long term work together has run the gamut of just about every aspect of my design focus, from branding/Logo work, print collateral, print advertising, environmental design (signage), web design and apparel design. As Tattoos are eclectic, so are Adorns tastes in branding allowing me to explore a less constrained range of design while developing and maintaining thier brand.

Adorn came to me with a logo (bottom) that they were very attached to, but it had significant flaws in its creation. It was based on a poorly constructed and inconsistent freeware font and was developed inhouse by non-professional designers. That said, they did not want to lose the aspects of it that they had come to love. This rebranding became an evolution over a number of years, first re-drawing the letters and cleaning up the logo, making all instances of the logo consistent. Then as we are rebranding as a upscale body art studio, finally developing this Adorn Gold Bar logo to carry the brand into the future. Completely redeveloped letterforms with uniform width and added stability of block formed serifs placed in a container that evokes class yet retains the quirkiness that Adorn loved.
The Adorn Brand System is composed of the new logo, the Adorn colorway, header and body typefaces and the redesigned Adorn Goddess
The brand mascot that Adorn had been using or years had never been created to be used in most of the mediums that it was called to make an appearance in. An original drawing that had been auto-traced years ago, lacked the finesse and sophistication that we were trying to portray with it. I redrew the character from scratch to address some of the awkward hand poses, too fine details that got lost in small reproduction and the crude linework. All details drawn with the mindset that it needed to be able to be reproduced at small sizes in many print and electronic mediums.

Web Design for new adorn site. This is one rare the times that I have not handled the development of the site as well. In this case I supplied Figma design files to the developer along with user interaction examples, animations, etc.
Contrary to most clients, Adorns' eclectic offerings and independent Piercing and Tattoo artists blend individual branding with Adorns branding. Each card front is developed with the individual artist and the back is branded for Adorn with address and contact info.
